I’ve seen Denise fearlessly hack through leech-infested jungles in Borneo, but nothing would persuade her to explore my favourite area of the Cove! In the beginning…
The Cove was pretty wild. But even as a tangled mass of green I knew there was something special about it. It has always been one of my favourite areas, one that holds enormous potential.
In search of this, we have cleared and made paths, wrangling the vegetation to reveal something truly beautiful. I can already see us all sharing sun-downers around The Fire Pit, Lotus Pond and Lookout Points…
Its a work in progress
In wider works within the Cove, the main house site is now cleared.
In addition, walkways have been designed and cut meandering across the land, linking areas. Access is tricky, so we have widened farm tracks, formalising with concrete the more challenging descents in prep for the portage of construction materials for our main build.
I mentioned ‘Paddies’:
We have initiated a small pilot project planting traditional Bali Rice across eight of our smaller Paddies. Seeding a long-range but locally focused idea that I’ll explain in a later post.
